Guest Post by Gretchen: A New Year, Open to Change

Hello! I’m Gretchen Pearsall and I live in Peoria Heights – just a mile and a half down Glen from Bushbaby! My husband, Bill, and I settled there four years ago, and in March 2015 we welcomed our daughter Beatrice into the world. I’m currently pregnant with our second, due a few days before Beatrice’s second birthday. We talk to her about the new baby, but she doesn’t acknowledge us. I think she’s in denial :)

I work full-time outside the home, plus at night I publish Peoria Macaroni Kid. On weekends Bill and I like to take Bea to local parks, the Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum, and Wildlife Prairie Park. She also really enjoys swimming lessons at the RiverPlex.

This past Father’s Day I gifted Bill with an Osprey child carrier pack from Bushbaby to help get us on the trails more. We enjoyed taking it to Starved Rock during the summer and fall, and it also came in handy when we went to the Cubs World Series parade in downtown Chicago!

As I look toward 2017, I realize we don’t have any huge plans. I’m not big on making New Year’s Resolutions; I tend to stick to smaller goals. Currently on my list is rearranging our bedroom furniture before February. But I am looking forward to the exciting changes that will take place in our family this year. We’ll have a new baby, Bill’s sister is getting married, and a niece is leaving for college. I think change is exciting and can bring opportunity. Maybe that’s what New Year’s Resolutions are really about – being open to change, whether it happens or not.

Gretchen, thanks so much for sharing a bit about your family with our BUSHBUNCH! We just love your perspective as you enter this new year! {And your Peoria Macaroni Kid site is one of our favorites!}
