Guest Post by Leann: The Seasons Change

Let's extend a lovely welcome to Leann, a Central IL mama of four.

Hi, I'm Leann. My husband, Don, and I have 4 kids (13, 11, 9, 8). We moved to the area 9 years ago. One of the best days of the year is the first day of summer. And another of the best days of the year is the first day of school. It seems strange that they'd both end up at the top of my list - let me explain myself.
I'm fortunate enough to have the title of homemaker which means that summer is extra noisy, fun, busy, fun, hectic....and did I mention, fun?! We soak up lazy mornings, afternoons at the pool, sports camps, listening to the Harry Potter series, plenty of Minecraft, piano, art & tennis lessons, camping, triathlons, and one of our family favorites, boating! So it seems obvious why I love the first day of summer. It's hard to say good bye to such a wonderful season, but my kiddos make it easier.
As soon as the back to school ads start showing up they are making shopping lists & planning their first day of school outfits! Their excitement is infectious and pretty soon I'm dreaming of routine, workouts I actually do, fun new learning & grocery shopping alone.
One of our best tactics to surviving this transition to school is to plan lots of family fun evenings & weekends. We love to hike, bike ride, water ski, camp, take our kids on dates and so much more. We have family breakfasts at 6:30 almost everyday and this is a great way to start a busy day of school & work. It doesn't take very long and we are back in the groove of school days.
Kids make every day better....I just wish I could hit pause and make the years go a little bit slower.

You are right, Leann, the seasons fly! Thanks for giving us a peek at your family + how you all have transitioned from one season to the next. HERE'S TO beauty, fun + adventure for your family this FALL!
